An in-state target included the Tennessee Volunteers on his list of favorites this week. Anthony Brown, a three-star athlete out of Milan, Tennessee, included the Volunteers among 11 other favorites.
The Volunteers are recruiting Brown as a defensive back, one of their biggest needs in this class of 2022. The 6-2, 192 pound prospect plays quarterback for his high school team, but projects as a corner or safety at the next level.
Per 247Sports, Brown is the 474th ranked prospect in the class, good for 17th in the state of Tennessee. The Volunteers sent out their offer to Brown back in December of 2020, and Josh Heupel and his staff have been working to build a relationship.
One interesting note on Brown’s top 12 — it didn’t include Michigan State. The Spartans held three crystal ball projections for Brown, but fail to make the initial cut here.
Another tweet from Brown revealed that he plans on enrolling early next season.
Tennessee has four major senior contributors in the secondary set to exit after this season. Losing Alontae Taylor, Kenneth George, Theo Jackson and Trevon Flowers all at once would create quite the need, making defensive back a key need in this class for Tim Banks and Willie Martinez.
With the recruiting restrictions set to be lifted at the end of this month, Brown is a name to follow as he begins to trim down his list even further.
