Not only are the Tennessee Volunteers headed to Omaha for the first time since 2005, but they’re one of the favorites to win the whole dang thing. Tennessee currently has the second best odds to win the College World Series, per DraftKings Sportsbook.
Vanderbilt is favored with 2-1 odds, while Tennessee slightly trails at +230. The Commodores are the defending national champions, winning back in 2019. Vanderbilt took two out of three in Knoxville this season in their lone series against the Volunteers. With Kumar Rocker and Jack Leiter forming a nasty 1-2 punch, the ‘Dores will certainly be a tough out in Omaha.
Tennessee will open with Virginia, playing in a double-elimination bracket also featuring Mississippi State and Texas. Vanderbilt, Arizona, Stanford and NC State make up the other bracket, with the two winners from each side set to meet to play a three game series for a national title.
Action from Omaha begins on Saturday, and the Volunteers will take on the Cavaliers on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
