Tennessee has reportedly added another big time non-conference matchup to their 2021-22 schedule. Per Texas Tech head coach Mark Adams, Tennessee will meet the Red Raiders in New York City at Madison Square Garden this December.
They will be joined by Villanova and Syracuse, forming the Jimmy V Classic field.

The game has yet to be formally announced, but Tennessee assistant Rod Clark seemed to confirm the news on Twitter.
Texas Tech joins Memphis, Villanova, Colorado and Arizona on the schedule for the Volunteers. They’ll also play either North Carolina or Purdue in the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament.
Mark Adams is the new head coach at Texas Tech, replacing Chris Beard, who left for Texas during the offseason. Adams was a long time assistant under Beard, and now gets his chance to continue on the huge success that Texas Tech has experienced recently.
Tennessee has faced Texas Tech exactly one time, coming back in 1953. Rick Barnes is familiar with the program, of course, coming from his days in the Big 12 at Texas. Barnes holds a 33-4 mark overall against the Red Raiders.
Adams has a big task ahead, as most of the roster for Texas Tech has changed since Beard’s departure. Tennessee will have a totally new look as well, and this event should be a nice measuring stick moment for both sides.
