DL target D’Andre Martin includes Tennessee in his top five

Syndication: Knoxville Calvin Mattheis/News Sentinel NFS

Tennessee has landed in the top five of another 2022 target. D’Andre Martin, a defensive tackle out of Durham, North Carolina, included Tennessee in his top schools on Monday.

Virginia Tech, Duke, Florida State and South Carolina rounded out his top five.

The 6-3, 290 pound prospect is currently unranked by 247Sports, but his offer list tells a different story. Martin now has six power-five offers, sparked by his first FBS offer coming from Virginia Tech back on June 7th. Tennessee offered ten days later on June 17th, following a camp date.

Interestingly enough, Martin has transitioned from wide receiver to defensive tackle — something rarely seen in football. The results of the move are paying off though, as Martin has racked up plenty of offers so far this summer.

You can probably expect more offers to come his way, as he arrives on the national recruiting scene for the 2022 cycle.

Tennessee currently has one defensive line commit in their 2022 class, coming from defensive end prospect Venson Sneed. Overall they have six commitments to this point, as Josh Heupel tries to fill out his first recruiting class at Tennessee. Defensive line is a big focal point for the Volunteers, with several veterans set to exit the program after this coming season. Defensive line coach Rodney Garner has a chance to totally remake his room, which should have Tennessee fans excited considering his track records over the last decade.
