The Tennessee Volunteers (45-16) are set to open the NCAA Tournament this evening in Knoxville with a matchup against Wright State (35-11). The Vols secured the nation’s No. 3 seed, earning the right to host their regional in Knoxville. Wright State landed as the No. 4 seed in Tennessee’s bracket.

Tennessee last hosted a regional back in 2005.

The regional will run throughout the weekend in double-elimination format, with the winner advancing to the round of 16. Tennessee received a pretty tough draw, with the ACC champion Duke as the No. 2 seed and Liberty landing as the No. 3 seed.

Wright State, Tennessee’s opponent tonight, boasts the nation’s highest batting average and most runs scored this season.

The winners will advance to play on Saturday, while the losers will enter an elimination game on Saturday.
