Tennessee won a huge recruiting battle on Monday, picking up a commitment from four-star receiver Cameron Miller. The Memphis product chose the Volunteers over offers from Alabama, Florida, Auburn, Michigan, Oregon and a host of several others.
Miller ranks as the 355th player in the country, per the 247Sports Composite rankings. He stands in at 6-1, 195 pounds and gives Tennessee their second blue-chip commitment of the 2022 class to this point.
Our own Clint Eiland broke down some of Miller’s tape ahead his commitment to Tennessee.
“The tape reveals a versatile athlete whose best football is ahead of him. Miller has more straight line speed than he does quickness. When the ball is snapped, Miller doesn’t have the immediate explosion off the line that fakes out a defensive back. However, he surprises people when he gets behind the defense and is still gaining steam. Plenty of his highlights show the defense taking what they think will be a good angle on Miller, only for him to simply outrun the defenders. He’s the stereotypical deep threat receiver at the next level.” — Clint Eiland

It’s easy to imagine Miller in Heupel’s fast-paced offense as a guy that can help Tennessee attack down the field. In fact, Miller said Heupel made him a priority from the first few hours that he was on the job at Tennessee, calling to make his pitch right off the bat.
That work in the early hours clearly paid off here, as Tennessee got a big one in the boat.
