Tennessee has landed in the top three for four-star receiver Shaleak Knotts. The top 100 overall prospect named his top three schools on Thursday, with Tennessee joining North Carolina and Maryland.
The 6-1, 184 pound prospect is the 91st ranked prospect in the country, per 247Sports. Knotts currently ranks as the 12th overall receiver in the 2022 class. He comes out of Monroe, North Carolina.
Tennessee hosted Knotts on an official visit on June 18th. He officially visited Maryland a week later, while also looking at Georgia a week before. Jeremy Pruitt’s staff sent out an offer back in September of 2019 to Knotts, and Josh Heupel’s staff reaffirmed the offer in February.
Penn State, Miami, Georgia, Ole Miss, Arkansas, South Carolina and Kentucky are just a few of his other offers to this point.
Knotts is a three-sport athlete in high school, also running track and playing basketball. Last season he averaged over 17 points per game, and grabbed over seven rebounds per contest. On the football field, Knotts has now caught 144 passes for over 2,300 yards, scoring 31 touchdowns in his three-year career. He’s also added 55 tackles and three interceptions as a defender.
Knotts is currently expected to announced his commitment at some point in August.
Outside of Velus Jones Jr., Tennessee has a fairly young receiver room. They’ll be relying on Jalin Hyatt and Jimmy Calloway to take big steps forward this year, along with Cedric Tillman and Ramel Keyton. The Volunteers should be more desirable in this particular area going forward, now with Josh Heupel and his spread offense in place.
