The Tennessee Volunteers have added a commitment this afternoon, landing linebacker prospect Kalib Perry out of Kentucky. The 6-3, 215 pound defender chose the Volunteers over Purdue, Cincinnati and Kentucky in his decision today.

Perry is a three-star prospect, ranking 829th overall in the class of 2022, per the 247Sports composite rankings. He’s the 88th ranked linebacker in the class and the sixth ranked player in the state of Kentucky for this cycle.

Perry took an official look at Tennessee on June 25th, just two days after earning a late offer from Kentucky following a camp visit. He also took official visits to Purdue and Cincinnati.

At the high school level, Perry manned a safety spot while playing quarterback in an option-heavy offense. Defensively, Perry’s immediate fit is unclear, but he’s not short on options. He has experience in coverage, as well as rushing off of the edge. Tennessee even worked him at defensive line during a camp session — the same session that netted Perry his offer from the Volunteers.

Following the addition of Perry, Tennessee is up to 12 commitments in their 2022 class. The Volunteers remain ranked 41st in the country, per 247Sports.
