College football season is just a couple of weeks away, and we now have our first AP Poll of the year. As expected, the defending national champion Alabama topped the poll with 47 first place votes. It’s the sixth time that Alabama has opened at No. 1 under Nick Saban.
Oklahoma took the second spot with six first place votes, while Clemson comes in third — also with six first place votes. Ohio State in 4th and Georgia in 5th were the only other teams to receive any first place votes.
Other SEC teams that were ranked included (6) Texas A&M, (13) Florida, (16) LSU. Ole Miss just narrowly missed out on the top 25, while Auburn also received votes.
