One of Tennessee’s biggest targets in the class of 2022 has taken the next step forward in his recruiting process.

Per a report from On3, five-star guard Cason Wallace is down to a final three. Gerry Hamilton reports that those finalists are Tennessee, Kentucky and Texas — and he plans on taking official visits to each school this fall. For Tennessee, it would be his second official visit to Knoxville.

Wallace is a consensus five-star shooting guard, ranked 17th overall in the nation by 247Sports. The 6-4, 185 pound prospect comes out of Richardson, Texas. For several weeks now, most in the know have billed this as a Kentucky vs. Tennessee battle.

247Sports currently has two crystal ball projections pointing towards Kentucky, following a July offer from the Wildcats stemming from his performance at the Peach Jam.

Wallace currently has trips planned to Kentucky on September 4th, Tennessee on September 17th, and Texas on August 26th. The current plan for Wallace is to commit on November 7th.

Tennessee awaits a decision from high four-star guard Jalen Hood-Schifino next week, who is set to decide between the Volunteers and Indiana. Rick Barnes and his staff are also in the mix for Brandon Miller, a five-star small forward out of the mid-state area.

The Volunteers currently hold one commitment in their 2022 class — four-star point guard B.J. Edwards.
