Rick Barnes continues to recruit at a ridiculously high level at Tennessee. Fresh off of back to back top five classes, Barnes is in hot pursuit of yet another one in the 2022 class. They made some progress this week towards that, landing in the top five of Jalen Hood-Schifino.

Memphis, Texas, Indiana and Florida made up the rest of his top five.

Hood-Schifino is a borderline five-star prospect, ranking just outside of the top 25 in the class, per 247Sports. The 6-5, 210 pound combo guard is out of Montverde, Florida, attending Montverde Academy.

Tennessee officially entered the race for Hood-Schifino back in May, sending out their offer. Indiana also offered on that day, while Texas and Memphis offered in late June. He was committed to Pittsburgh in 2020, but backed off of that pledge as his offer list exploded.

Expect Hood-Schifino to visit each school at some point in the fall as he tries to come to a decision. He’s already seen Tennessee once, joining five-star guard Cason Wallace on his official visit back in June. They were two of several elite prospects to visit Knoxville as in-person recruiting fired back up over the summer.

Tennessee currently has one commitment in the 2022 class coming from four-star point guard BJ Edwards, who comes out of Knoxville. The Volunteers will enjoy Kennedy Chandler this upcoming season, but more than likely will be replacing him when he heads to the NBA next summer.

Hood-Schifino is one to pay attention to over the next few months, along with what appears to be a Tennessee-Kentucky battle for Wallace.
