Welcome to week three of college football!
Tennessee is a week away from getting their SEC schedule rolling, but others around the league will begin on Saturday. The headliner is Alabama at Florida, giving us an early matchup of two of the top four teams in conference. Alabama hasn’t missed a beat to this point with Bryce Young under center, while the Gators appear to have something brewing with quarterback Anthony Richardson. Will he be enough to hang with the Tide?
On the non-conference side, Auburn will make a trip north to Penn State, where we should learn a lot more about Bryan Harsin’s team. Mississippi State-Memphis, Ole Miss-Tulane and Vanderbilt-Stanford are three other games that could potentially be interesting.
The Volunteers will host Tennessee Tech this week, which should be a tune-up spot after a tough game against Pittsburgh last week. Tennessee is nursing several injury situations this week, including quarterback Joe Milton. With a trip to Florida coming next week, we’ll see how much Heupel pushes the envelope with these guys against the Golden Eagles.
Below are our picks for the week. Evan holds the lead in the spread picks for the year, with Clint hot on his tail. Me? Well, uh, it’s been a rough couple weeks. But it’s early.
