It's been an up and down start to the year for Tennessee. Both of their wins came in dominant fashion, but they also lost to Pittsburgh. So the question becomes, which version of Tennessee comes onto the field tonight against Florida.
The public certainly doesn't believe that Tennessee has a shot in this one. It'll be up to them to prove them wrong.
Tennessee is a huge underdog headed into this matchup. The Vols are 19 point underdogs, and they're given +820 odds to win the game outright. That's an implied 10.9% chance to win the game. Meanwhile, Florida is given -1111 odds, or an implied 91.7% chance to win the game.
Oddsmakers aren't giving Tennessee a chance in this one. They think this is one is going to be a blowout.
Florida and Tennessee have played each other 50 times in their history. Tennessee has won 20 of those games. There was a point when Tennessee dominated this series. In fact, Tennessee won the first 10 matchups these two teams ever played.
Since then though, things haven't been very good. That's been especially true since 2005 when they've gone 1-15 against Florida. That one win coming in 2016 when Tennessee's offense was stacked with NFL talent.
So, it's easy to see why people are wary of Tennessee.
This might as well be a free game for Tennessee. This is a game everyone expects them to lose. That means the only thing they're really playing for is pride. That makes them dangerous.
It may only be Week 4, but Tennessee has a chance to play spoiler for Florida. A win here would shake up the SEC.
