College Football Playoff Rankings: Tennessee moves down to No. 21 after loss to Georgia

NCAA Football: Georgia at Tennessee Randy Sartin-USA TODAY Sports

The College Football Playoff committee is back this week with their latest batch of rankings, moving Tennessee down to No. 21 following their blowout loss to Georgia. The Bulldogs, who moved to No. 1 last week, have officially clicked — good luck to the field trying to stop a third straight national title.

Georgia and Alabama will play for another SEC Championship in a couple of weeks, which is where the fun will begin. There’s a real situation brewing here in the top eight. At this point, a deserving team will undoubtedly get left out.

Florida State was leapfrogged this week by Washington, after the Huskies went into Oregon State and came away with a win. The Seminoles lost star quarterback Jordan Travis for the year, creating a really interesting dilemma for the committee to consider.

Ohio State and Michigan will give us one piece of the puzzle this weekend. A Pac-12 Championship featuring Oregon and Washington would give us another.

The most fascinating scenario would be Alabama beating Georgia in Atlanta. What would the committee do at that point? Would Georgia fall out? What do you then do with Texas — who beat Alabama early in the year? This is one of the most interesting scenarios we’ve seen yet.

Here’s the entire top 25 from the committee.
