Tennessee will get both of their starters back at tackle. Big.

And now for a bit of good news, finally — Gerald Mincey is coming back for the 2024 season. Tennessee’s starter at right tackle announced his intentions to return on Monday night, posting on his X account that he had signed with the Volunteer Club for the 2024 season.

The Volunteer Club is Tennessee’s NIL collective partner, for reference.

The former Florida Gator transferred in ahead of the 2022 season, immediately making a big impact for Tennessee. The 6-6, 337 pound tackle is a former three-star prospect. Mincey started nine games for Tennessee in 2022 and six in 2023. He appeared in 11 total, logging 447 snaps total. Mincey allowed just two sacks on the year.

Mincey joins John Campbell coming back on the offensive line, so both tackle spots are locked down with veterans heading into the 2024 season. Senior center Cooper Mays and senior guard Javontez Spraggins have not officially announced their plans yet, but neither one took part in Senior Day festivities against Vanderbilt.

So potentially, Tennessee could return four starters up front — four seniors. That would certainly be a big boost for Nico Iamaleava as he makes the transition to being the starting quarterback.
