'And then a couple weeks after I had said on the air that one of the toughest things about coaching at Tennessee would be to find that color tie to go with all your outfits, Bill Murray grabbed an orange tie on an A to Z pub crawl in New York and said to me, "Here's your FULMERIZED tie. It's not that hard to find." - Dan Patrick, Those Guys Have All the Fun
I'm in my last year of grad school, which means buried under all my other reading it's taken me almost a full year to read just the first 228 pages of Those Guys Have All the Fun, the excellent oral history of ESPN by James Andrew Miller and Tom Shales. We looked at Chris Fowler's comments on Manning and Woodson in the book last May, but I just came across this story by Dan Patrick today and thoroughly enjoyed it.It was great seeing Eric Berry @Stuntman1429 at Saturday's scrimmage and hanging out with all the players. Coached at Minnesota, Wisconsin, head coach at Austin Peay, Notre Dame, Miami, my brother-in-law at Tennessee Tech, D-line at Redskins and then MTSU. Played at Florida State His wiki pageCuonzo Martin said he couldn't help but notice the scores of blue-clad Kentucky fans in Thompson-Boling Arena on Saturday. "Yeah, it concerns you,'' Tennessee's men's basketball coach, who had a handful of Kentucky fans sitting behind his team's bench, said Monday at media day. "We see 21,000 there, but we'd like to see the 21,000-plus in orange, especially when you say you're going up against a rival.'' The Vols' 65-62 loss to the No. 2-ranked Wildcats represented UT's first sellout crowd of the season, with 21,678 packed into the arena. "If the upper bowl is not packed (with orange), it's one thing,'' Martin said. "But you have the lower bowl ... "There was not a lot of red in that lower bowl when Indiana came to the gym at Purdue.'' Martin played at Purdue 1991-95 and coached there as an assistant 2000-08.
At this stage of the game, I give the Vols a slight chance (20 percent) to come on and make the NCAA tournament and a 50-50 chance at being invited to the Postseason NIT field.

If I'm reading it right, his latest predictions give the Vols 15 wins plus 5 50/50 games, good enough for a 50% shot at the NIT and a 20% shot at the big T."I keep coming back to the fact that if you want to win championships, you've got to be able to guard in the halfcourt," Calipari said. "You've got to be physical and you've got to have toughness. [Martin]'s doing it by changing the culture."
