What you need to know

Darrell Taylor | Hopewell, VA | DE | 6-4 | 230 | 0.9004 | 14 | 4 |
With all of the attention surrounding Tennessee defensive tackle commitments Shy Tuttle and Kahlil McKenzie, four star defensive end commit Darrell Taylor has flown under that radar -- but once he arrives on campus, Taylor has the type of talent that will have Vols fans learning his name. A versatile athlete, Taylor played wide receiver, defensive end, and outside linebacker for his high school football team in Hopewell, Virginia. On the field, Taylor has a large, projectible frame and an explosive first step off of the line of scrimmage. Defensive coordinator John Jancek is likely to slot Taylor into the weakside defensive end position behind Corey Vereen, but it's not out of the question that he could play strongside linebacker behind Curt Maggitt or, with additional work in the weight room, strongside defensive end behind Derek Barnett.
